  Flea is the common name for insects of the order Siphonaptera which are wingless insects with mouthparts adapted for piercing skin and sucking blood. Fleas are external parasites, living by hematophagy off the blood of mammals (including humans) and birds.

  Fleas live on other animals including dogs, cats, and humans. They drink blood, and lay eggs on the animal's body.

  What does a flea bite look like?

  Bites usually occur along the ankles and lower portions of legs from fleas in carpet. You’ll notice a flea bite before the flea.
