The junco is also known as the snowbird and is closely related to the sparrow. There are several species of juncos, the most common is the dark-eyed junco. Juncos travel in flocks and seem to like the winter time.

What does a Junco look like?
Juncos can be found in a variety of colors, but mostly found in a shade of grey. They have white underpants and grey backs. Juncos are about 15 cm (6 inches) long. They have white outer tail feathers and pinkish bills. During wintertime the juncos have over 30% more feather then during the summer.
Where does the Junco live?
Juncos enjoy a colder climate; no matter where they go, they always fly in large flocks during the winter season. They are found in the United States, northern Mexico and Canada. The flock of the juncos may consist from six to forty birds or more.
What does a Junco eat?
In the summer juncos enjoy to eat insects like bugs and caterpillars. The rest of the year they mainly feed on berries, seeds, grass seeds and the seeds of crabgrass.
